Absentee ballots are now available for Cape Girardeau County residents who will not be able to vote on Election Day, Nov. 6.
Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers says voters may cast an absentee ballot at the offices of the county clerk at 44 N. Lorimier St. in Cape Girardeau or at 1 Barton Square, Suite 301, in Jackson until the day before the election.
Office hours at both locations are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and both offices will be open the Wednesday preceding the election until 5 p.m., the Saturday preceding the election from 8 a.m. to noon, and the Monday before until 5 p.m.
Voters may also request an absentee ballot by mail. Those requests must be signed by the voters and received in the clerk's office no later than 5 p.m. on the Wednesday before the election, Oct. 31. Mailed ballots must be voted, notarized and received in the clerk's office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.
