American Legion Post 158 of Jackson , has selected the following students as Music Student of the Month for Dec., 1999, Jan, and Feb., 2000. This is a program of the Americanism Committee of the Legion Post and recognizes outstanding music students of Jackson High School. This is funded by the American Legion Bingo Account. Each of the students will receive a $100 Savings Bond in honor of their accomplishment's.

For the month of December, the music student of the month is Abby Danielle Burlbaugh of Jackson. Abby is a senior at Jackson High School and is the daughter of Robert and Cheryl Burlbaugh.

Abby is a member of the Symphonic and Marching Band and a one year member of the Honors Band. Abby is also a member of Chamber Choir, All-District Choir two years and has received five I's in band and vocal at District's, and two I's in band and vocal at State. She is also a member of Quill and Scroll. She attends Fruitland Church of Christ. Following graduation, Abby plans to attend Freed-Hardeman University and major in Psychology and English Literature.

For the month of January, the music student of the month is Keturah Kiehl. Keturah is a senior at Jackson High School and is the daughter of John and Rhonda Kiehl of Pocahantas.

Keturah is a member of the Symphonic and Marching Bands. She has been a member of the All-District Band five years, Honors Wind Ensemble one year, Honorable Mention All-State, and has received seven District I's and nine State I's both with solos and ensembles. Keturah is a member of the Scholar Bowl, serving as Co-Captain this year, and was a member of the Spanish Club for I year.

Keturah is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahantas and has served as Council member/Deacon, Organist, Worship/Music Committee and is a member, Past Secretary and Past President of her youth group, Luther League. After graduation, she plans to attend Hillsdale College in Michigan and major in American Studies with a minor in Music.

For the month of February our music student of the month is Arika Lucy. Arika is a senior at Jackson High School and is the daughter of Ken and Pam Lucy of Jackson. Arika is a member of Chamber Choir and has been All-District for 3 years and All-State this year. Arika is Captain of the Spirit Dancers and is a member of the Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and J- Club. Arika is a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and a youth Cell Group leader. Following graduation Arika plans on getting a Ph.D. in music.
