Nearly 300 area boys will descend upon the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport May 3 to 5 as part of the 2002 Shawnee District Boy Scouts of America Camporee.
Scouts will earn their aviation merit badge as they camp at the airport and take part in airplane demonstrations, pre-flight inspections, orientation rides and model rocket launches.
The Scouts will also design their own balsa wood airplane and attempt to drop an egg 30 feet in a creative way so that it "survives."
Airport manager Bruce Loy said Monday that 274 boys have signed up for it. Those with questions should call Loy at 334-6230.
