The Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts is encouraging artists and craftsmen to secure booth space for Balloon Fest '94, scheduled for July 22-24 at the Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport.

Booth spaces, 10 feet by 10 feet, are available for artists and craftsmen to display and sell their hand-made products. All arts and crafts products must be finished and hand-made by the exhibitor.

Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The booth fee is $50. The exhibitor will provide all display equipment including tables, chairs and canopy. All booth spaces will be on concrete in close proximity to the airport terminal building.

Balloon Fest '94 will feature 40 hot-air balloons competing in balloon flights, tethered balloon rides and a balloon glow. Other activities include a pancake breakfast, an airplane fly-in, static displays of various aircraft, model airplane demonstrations, experimental aircraft and food and souvenir concessions.

Pancakes will be served in the Runway Restaurant, which is located in the airport terminal from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The tethered balloon rides will be offered, weather permitting, in the afternoon for $5. Approximately 40 balloons from 19 states have registered to participate in this year's event.

Admission and parking to Balloon Fest '94 are free.

The Balloon Fest '94 committee, chaired by Bob Steinburg, also invites volunteers and sponsors to join other sponsors. Anyone interested in joining this group is urged to call 334-9233.
