CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Two suspects are in custody following a chase early Monday morning that started in Cape Girardeau County and ended in Mississippi County.

The Mississippi County Sheriff's Department released the names of the men, Adrian Seabaugh and Richard Weakly, on Monday but provided no details of the chase and arrest. Both men are from Cape Girardeau, the department said.

The chase started just before midnight at Center Junction between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, said Jackson police chief James Humphreys. A Jackson police officer spotted a car that matched the description of a maroon Chevrolet Camaro used in a robbery Saturday at Town and Country grocery in Advance, Mo.

The Stoddard County Sheriff's Department said a woman was robbed of her purse in the store's parking lot but that the robber didn't use a weapon.

The Jackson patrolman checked the license plate, which matched the one described in the account of the robbery. Jackson police attempted to stop the car, but it continued heading south on Interstate 55.

Jackson police dropped out of the pursuit at mile marker 87, and other police agencies assisted, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The suspects were finally caught in Mississippi County after 1 a.m. after evading authorities for more than a hour.

The Mississippi County prosecutor's office refused to release information Monday until after the suspects' preliminary hearing.
