Police said a drunken driver was the cause of a three-vehicle crash Monday morning at Highway 74 and Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau.

Jared D. Stone, 33, of Benton, Mo., failed to stop at a red light at the intersection just before 10 a.m. Monday, said Cape Girardeau Police Officer Darin Hickey. Stone was later arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and running a red light.

The Monte Carlo he was driving southbound on Kingshighway struck a Volkswagen traveling westbound on Highway 74, Hickey said. The Volkswagen spun around and struck a Dodge truck that was also traveling westbound on Highway 74. The driver of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries. The other drivers were not injured.
