POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- An autopsy was to be performed Monday morning in Farmington, Mo., on the body of a Poplar Bluff man found floating in Black River by a fisherman.

The body was identified as Jacky Green, 51, according to Poplar Bluff Police Lt. Dave Sutton.

At about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, police got a call that a body was found floating in Black River about 50 yards south of the Bartlett Street bridge, Sutton said.

Green's body was found by a fisherman who was making his way downstream from Sportsman's Park, Sutton said.

Recovery, he said, was made by the police department, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Division and the Butler County coroner's office.

Sutton said there did not appear to be any "obvious signs" of violence on Green's body.

"Just a short time after we recovered the body and were trying to make identification, [Green[']s] family called to say he was missing," Sutton said.

Green, he said, was last seen at about 5 p.m. Thursday by a City Cab driver, who dropped him off at the Trax Bar on Vine Street.

"We spoke to everyone we know of who had seen him just prior to his disappearance," Sutton said. "We didn't find any reason to suspect he's the victim of violence. [However], we are awaiting the outcome of the autopsy before we draw any conclusions."

The autopsy on Green was to have been performed at 10 a.m. Monday by Dr. Russell Deidiker at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, Sutton said.
