Highway 177 just north of the Cape Girardeau city limits has reopened following the road's closure last week due to rising Mississippi River backwater, according to a news release Monday from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Monday morning water had receded enough to open one lane of the road, which was closed from County Road 643 to 657. Monday afternoon MoDOT announced both lanes were open.
