Seminar set at Missionary Baptist
Missionary Baptist Church will present a "Life Changing Seminar" highlighting career, college and GED options at 10 a.m. Aug. 2 at 200 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Representatives from Southeast Missouri State University, MERS, the Career and Technology Center, Workforce Development and the Adult Learning Center will be present.
Parent orientation dates set at St. Paul
St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson will hold parent orientation sessions. On Aug. 11, sessions will be held at 5:30 p.m. for first grade, 6 p.m. for preschool and prekindergarten, 6:15 p.m. for third grade and 7 p.m. for fourth grade. On Aug. 13, sessions will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for preschool and prekindergarten, 5:30 p.m. for fifth grade and 7 p.m. for second grade. On Aug. 14, sessions will be held at 6 p.m. for kindergarten, 6:15 p.m. for sixth grade and 7:15 p.m. for grades seven and eight. A back-to-school barbecue will be held Sept. 7. Nature center to hold educator open house
The Cape Girardeau Conservation Campus Nature Center will hold an educator open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2. Information will be provided about upcoming workshops, activity guides, lesson planning and more. Representatives from the NASA Education Resource Center, Crisp Museum and Trail of Tears State Park will be present. Call 290-5218 for more information.
Cheerfest to raise money for cheerleaders
Perryville High School will hold Cheerfest '08 from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday on the football field in Perryville, Mo. Admission is $5. Money raised will help pay for the cheerleading squad to perform at Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. The bands BAMF!, Dusty Roads, Parker Unplugged, Joshua Aaron, Self Portrait, A Night Well Spent, Saints and Heroes and Mark Schrum will perform.
