About 200 people sat close to the stage as Bryan White sang songs of love and homecoming Friday night at the SEMO District Fair.

White is on tour in support of his new album, "Dustbowl Dreams," and performed several songs from the album as well as some hits from his previous albums.

White has had 17 singles reach the country charts in his career, including four that reached No. 1. The crowd that sat in the chairs Friday night could be heard singing along to nearly every song and was a part of the show when White performed "From this Moment On," his duet with Shania Twain. In lieu of a female counterpart, White asked the ladies in the audience to sing together for the female part.

Siblings Ben Kinder and Deanna Kinder of Jackson attended after becoming more familiar with White's music, thanks to karaoke. "I like singing his stuff because it's in my range," Ben Kinder said. His sister "wanted to see him the last time he was around here and didn't get to, so being able to be up close like this is a very cool deal."

White's last performance in the area was at the Missouri Peach Fair in Campbell, Mo.

White performed with a full band, and then about halfway through the night, he went acoustic, with only the keyboard and backing vocals performing with him.

"Everybody loves to rock," said White from the stage, "and come relax with us and have fun and escape, but I think a lot of people would honestly say that some of the most fun shows they've been to are the ones where they were kind of an unplugged or acoustic-type thing."

"I couldn't wait," Deanna Kinder said. "We've been planning on coming to see it since it was announced, and my brother was nice enough to treat me to the tickets."

"You can tell he really means what he sings; that he's really into it," Ben Kinder said.

White stayed after the show to meet with fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

"Not a lot of singers will take the time to do that, and that's awesome," Deanna Kinder said.
