The City of Cape Girardeau's Public Works Department has announced changes to its trash and recycling pickup schedule due to the ice storm.
Trash that's usually picked today will still be picked up where possible, but trucks will run several hours later than normal, according to a city news release.
"We will make every effort to complete our residential solid waste routes today," the news release stated, but pickup will not be possible for homes in hilly areas or on narrow streets.
Today's recycling routes will be picked up Wednesday, as will Wednesday special pickup routes. Collection should be back to normal by Thursday, the release states.
The City of Jackson announced via news release this afternoon that there will be no changes in the Tuesday or Wednesday pickup schedule.
