Cape Girardeau County is now part of the Missouri One Call system, according to a release by the Missouri One Call System. Residents can call 1-800-344-7483 or 811 to work with an operator to find underground utilities and other hazards that may be hidden near a dig site. Missouri law requires anyone planning to dig, drill or blast to notify Missouri One Call at least three working days before any excavation to report the location of the dig site. Utilities then mark the dig site both for the protection of the excavator and their facilities. There is no charge to the excavator. For more information, go to www.mo1call.com.
