The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Dennis R. Haertling, 64, was traveling in a southbound lane around 4:05 p.m. on Interstate 55 when traffic began slowing. His motorcycle failed to slow down and began to slide. The Harley then traveled into the center median, ejecting Haertling.

He was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Mo.
