Carl Boitnott, a painter from Cape Girardeau, was electrocuted while working in Jackson Tuesday morning, Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton said.

Boitnott, 43, was working in the 300 block of W. Main Street when he cut a high voltage wire, Clifton said. Boitnott was painting the exterior of a building in the block, he said.

The electrocution occurred about 9 a.m., Clifton said.

Boitnott was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by assistant coroner David Taylor, Clifton said.

"It was just an unfortunate accident," he said.
