In separate cases, three Southeast Missourian men pleaded guilty Monday in federal court, including a Cape Girardeau man who was charged with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute.

Scott Mosley, 40, of Cape Girardeau pleaded guilty to one felony count of possessing 5 grams or more of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine. He appeared Monday before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Raymond Gruender, law enforcement officers seized a large clear plastic bag from a shelf above the stairs leading to the basement of Mosley's residence on April 16. The bag allegedly contained 21.6 grams of crack, the release said. Mosley admitted to officers that the crack cocaine was his, prosecutors said.

Mosley faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. Sentencing has been set for Nov. 26.

In a second case, a Scott County man was sentenced Monday on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Marcus A. Wilkins, 23, of Haywood City, Mo., was sentenced to more than four years in prison on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of firearms and on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of ammunition.

Officers from the Scott County Sheriff's Department conducted a search of an abandoned residence at 295 Ceader in Haywood City, where they recovered a SKS rifle and a 30.06-caliber rifle that had been taken in two recent Scott County burglaries.

Authorities say that further investigation revealed that Wilkins had acquired the firearms in exchange for quantities of crack cocaine and was hiding them in the abandoned building. Ammunition and clips for the firearms were found in Wilkins' vehicle.

In a third case, a Dunklin County man, Coy L. Richey, pleaded guilty to methamphetamine charges. Richey, 38, entered a guilty plea to one felony count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Richey faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. Sentencing has been set for Nov. 26 in Cape Girardeau.

Richey admitted to selling one-quarter ounce of meth to a confidential informant in Kennett, Mo., for which was paid $425. Richey has prior convictions for drug-related charges in Ripley County and Craig County in Oklahoma.
