A 41-year-old Cape Girardeau man was found badly beaten and unconcious in an alley Wednesday evening, police said.

At 9:58 p.m., it was reported that a man was lying unconcious in an alley adjacent to the 300 block of Morgan Oak Street, Cpl. Kevin Orr said.

The man had suffered serious injuries to his face and head, Orr said. He was found lying on his back. Police are not sure what caused the injuries.

However, it was apparent that the victim had been dragged from one side of the alley to another, Orr said. Personal belongings, including a hat and cane, were found on the opposite side of the alley from the victim.
