An ongoing investigation by the Cape Girardeau Police Department and the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force led to an unusual drug bust late Friday afternoon.

Police recovered a briefcase full of vials, pills and powders of a substance believed to be anabolic steroids at a 926 East Rodney Drive residence, after serving a search warrant for the premises, according to Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department.

Aaron G. Faire, 37, formerly of Jackson, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $15,000.

The haul had an estimated street value of between $7,000 and $10,000, Hovis said.

According to a probable-cause statement written and signed by officer Mike Alford of the drug task force, Faire intended to send the steroids to other parties by mail, he allegedly told police.

Both used and fresh syringes and unknown types of pills were also found on the premises, the statement said.
