The Cape Girardeau School Board on Monday will decide whether to apply for a state grant that would help pay for an estimated $333,739 worth of equipment upgrades for several departments.

The Vocational-Technical Education Enhancement Grant, administered through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, would reimburse the school district $250,304.

The money would be used to provide equipment for the digital media classroom and lab; the licensed practical nursing classroom and library; the medical office specialist classroom; the respiratory therapy classroom and lab; and the physical therapy assistant classroom and lab.

The board also will vote whether to approve 2015-2016 tuition rates for the Career and Technology Center.

The rates include changes in the cost of secondary programs and co-enrolled programs.

The rate for high school students who attend the center would rise from $2,250 to $2,450 per student. For postsecondary full-time students, the rate would increase from $5,000 to $5,400. And for postsecondary half-time students, the rate would go from $2,500 to $2,700.

The board then will decide whether to adopt a policy written by the Missouri School Boards' Association. The policy applies to all invited speakers and includes the required provisions of House Bill 1303, which requires school districts to adopt certain policies pertaining to speakers.

Monday's meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Central Administration Office, 301 N. Clark St.
