Cape Splash raised its first shade "funbrella" Friday as part of the water park's "Countdown to Summer." An umbrella will be opened each day until the park opens for the season at 11 a.m. May 25.

The park has amenities including a 700-foot "lazy river" for floating, flume rides, a swirl pool, leisure pool and spray pad.

Admission is free for children younger than 12 months old; $5 for children ages 1 to 13; $6 for adults ages 14 to 59; and $5 for seniors ages 60 and older.

Season passes are $100 for children and seniors and $125 for adults. Family season passes begin at $200 for a family of four. Tickets and passes may be purchased at the Osage Centre or at the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department office at the Arena Building.

Cape Splash will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 13. The park then will be open reduced hours, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays beginning Aug. 17, until it closes for the year at the end of the day Sept. 2.
