The Knowledge Master team at Cape Girardeau Central High School placed first in Missouri, the seventh time the team has been tops in the state.

Ann Bartlett, Knowledge Master coach, said the team earned 1,612 of a possible 2,000 points.

"The team worked so well together," said Bartlett. "They answered the first 107 questions correctly."

Knowledge Master is an academic competition played on computer. Students answer 200 questions from a variety of subjects and get bonus questions for answering questions quickly.

Kickapoo High School near Springfield was ranked second in the state. In Missouri 41 teams competed and mean score was 1210.

Nationally, the CHS team ranked 27. The top score in nation was 1746 by North Carolina School of Science. Nationwide, 1,612 teams participated. The mean score for the nation was 1186.

Members of the CHS team are sophomores Lance Haman, Yung Park and Matt Shivelbine;

Juniors Alyssa Browning, J.J. Haycraft, Chris Redfearn, Chris Robertson, Rene Robinson, Takara Stanley and Jennifer Worth;

Seniors Mala Ahuja, William Campbell, Sky Carroll, Haresh Kamath, Jason Merkler, Hema Rajan, and Bridgid Stone.
