Cape Girardeau Central High School placed third among large high schools competing at the 10th annual Southeast Missouri State University Chemistry Bowl Thursday.

The top three large schools were Rolla, Kirkwood and Cape Central.

The top three small schools were Valle of Ste. Genevieve, Malden and Portageville.

Students from 38 high schools took an exam and conducted two experiments during the competition. Awards were presented to the top 15 finishers in each division

Large School Division: Roger House, Benton, Ill., first place; Brian Rauch, Kirkwood, second place; Steve Cato, Sikeston, second place; Haresh Kamath, Cape Girardeau Central, fourth place; Justin McNutt, Kirkwood, fourth place; Jeremiah Duncan, Rolla, fourth place; Andie Corso, Rolla, seventh place; Joy Adkins, Benton, Ill., eighth place; Takara Stanley, Cape Central, eighth place; Bob White, Eureka, eighth place; Paul Mueller, Oakville, eighth place; John Trautee, Rolla, eighth place; Mark Moonier, Jackson.

Small School Division: Sharon Basler, Valle, first place; Ted Hoog, Valle, second place; Scott Fallert, Valle, third place; Ben Weiler, Valle, fourth place; Bobby Clubbs, Malden, fifth place; Pat Forhan, Valle, fifth place; Kim Donze, Valle, seventh place; Chris Molitor, Valle, eighth place; Michelle Brooks, Campbell, ninth place; John Cross, Malden, ninth place; Chuck Cook, Malden, eleventh place; Jason Crites, Portageville, twelfth place.

Mark Moonier of Jackson was honored as the top student among students who have completed just one year of chemistry.

Scott Fallert of Valle received a scholarship to Southeast for his efforts.
