The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce's television show "Chamber Matters" will debut tonight at 7 on TCI Channel 5, the public access channel.

Hosted by Tonya Wells, communications director for the chamber, the show will feature a discussion of the April 1 school bond issue with Dan Tallent, superintendent of Cape Girardeau public schools. The 30-minute show will be followed by a rebroadcast of Monday's City Council meeting.

The station will rebroadcast the show at noon Wednesday, at 7 p.m. March 25 and at noon March 26.

Starting in May, the show will air regularly at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month. There will be no show in April, Wells said.

This is the first of what city officials hope will be a fuller schedule on regular shows on the city's public-access channel, said Teri Goodman, public-awareness coordinator for the city.

She said the city expects to produce "City Source" produced by the city government and "Behind the Badge," a program about the police department.

Goodman said she hopes to have the schedule finalized by April.

The public-access channel will air other shows submitted by organizations or individuals. Any Cape Girardeau citizens who want to submit videotapes or public-service announcements should contact the Public Awareness Office at 335-8556, Goodman said. They may pick up forms for both types of programming at the A.C. Brase Arena Building, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Public Works Department or City Hall.
