A Cape Girardeau man accused of breaking into his employer's Minnesota Avenue home May 30 and attempting to rape a teenager there was granted a change of venue Monday by Judge William L. Syler.

Craig Kizer's case will now be heard in New Madrid County.

Kizer, 51, is charged with attempted forcible rape, armed criminal action and burglary, all felonies. He's also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say Kizer, who was a contractor repairing fire damage at the residence, broke into the residence carrying a knife and tried to force himself on the teenager.

The girl's mother heard strange noises from her daughter's room and then saw a man on top of her. The mother pointed a pistol at the intruder and forced him to leave. She later identified the man as Kizer.

Kizer has no prior convictions, according to Missouri Casenet.
