Charity boxing event postponed over Ferguson

ST. LOUIS -- An annual charity boxing and mixed martial arts event that pits police officers against firefighters to raise money for fallen first responders has been postponed amid concerns of further Ferguson unrest.

KTVI-TV reported that The Backstoppers organization has postponed the Guns 'N Hoses event at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The charity bouts drew about 17,000 people last year and were scheduled for Nov. 26 this year, the night before Thanksgiving.

Organizers say some participants have been unable to properly train because they've been too busy helping respond to the frequent protests since the early August shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by Ferguson officer Darren Wilson.

A grand jury decision on whether to indict Wilson on criminal charges is expected to be made public later this month.
