CHARLESTON -- A Mississippi County man was killed and another injured in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

Cedric Rodgers, 26, of Charleston was killed when his vehicle overturned near Charleston. A passenger, Leroy Adkins, 21, also of Charleston was injured when he was thrown from the vehicle.

Neither man was wearing seat belts.

Rodgers was traveling southbound on Route NN six miles north of Charleston when the accident occurred.

The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, over corrected onto the road, then back off the road before striking a tree and overturning in a ditch, said Missouri State Highway Patrol officers.

Adkins was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston where he was treated and released.
