Children's Rooftop Garden

The new Children's Rooftop Garden was open for tours Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Saint Francis Medical Center.

The new Children's Rooftop Garden at Saint Francis Medical Center is located just outside the Children's Center. The garden was suggested by a surgeon as a way for children and their families to relieve or lower stress during hospitalization.

The kugel ball in honor of Saint Francis Auxiliary and Volunteers weighs just over two tons. Made of solid black granite, the base weighs 2,800 pounds and the ball is 1,400 pounds. A thin film of water is all that is needed to lubricate the ball and allow it to spin.
