Ivan L. Irvin of Cape Girardeau was named chairman of the Missouri Real Estate Commission at its monthly meeting in Jefferson City Wednesday. Ivan L. Irvin of Cape Girardeau was named chairman of the Missouri Real Estate Commission at its monthly meeting in Jefferson City Wednesday. He was appointed to a fifth term as member of the board by Gov. John Ashcroft in December 1987.

Irvin is managing partner of Ivan L. Irvin and Associates, 1636 Independence, which deals in commercial real estate and development. He has been involved in real estate locally 26 years.

He is one of six people on the board from the real-estate field. Each must have at least 10 years experience as a broker. In addition, there is one public member for the seven-member panel.

The commission is responsible for establishing rules to carry out real-estate licensing in the state. It can deny applications for new licenses and can revoke or suspend existing licenses.

Irvin said he is the first member of the commission from Southeast Missouri since the commission was formed 50 years ago.

He and his wife, Patricia, live in Cape Girardeau. They have two sons.
