Cape Girardeau County Clerk Rodney Miller will be registering new voters this weekend at Riverfest.

He will start on the lawn of Common Pleas Courthouse both Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. and will continue registration until 8. After that Miller will carry a small table and sign and will move around so people can register.

On Saturday Miller will be joined for a while by Secretary of State Judi Moriarty, who last month went to Central High School promoting her Missouri First Vote program.

"We usually try to attend large events like this to give people an opportunity to register," said Miller. "There should be a good crowd and we hope people in Cape County will take advantage of this."

If someone does not want to take the time to register, or knows someone who needs to, the clerk will have copies of forms that can be used to register by mail.

July 6 is the deadline to register for the Aug. 2 primary. People who are now registered but have moved to a new address have until July 13 to transfer their registration.
