Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau met Sept 2 and Sept. 16. Norman Huhn presented the program on Sept. 2, and John Eggimann and crew presented the meal and entertainment for Stag night on Sept. 16.

Club members worked the 4-H food stand during the SEMO District Fair and the 4-H members will help at the club's ham and bean day on Nov. 6. Tickets are available for the ham and bean day. Members are asked to sell tickets and recruit all the help they can find for the event. Members will bring desserts.

The next meeting will be Oct. 21. Joe Perez is scheduled to present the program.

Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighters FCE met on Sept. 18 at the home of Gayla Volz, after having attended the Taste of Home Cooking School at the Osage Community Centre in Cape Girardeau.

A short business meeting was held. A reminder was issued about an upcoming series on "Dining With Diabetes," to be held in November at the County Extension Office. Also, a trip to Branson, Mo., will be taken in November.

Volunteers for the Fall Leaders' Training sessions were named.

Voting for the club's 2004 officers was completed. Installation will be held at the December meeting.

A program on hormone replacement was given by Judy Meyer.

The October meeting will be an international supper with foods found in Tasmania, an island off southeastern Australia.

Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 7, at the home of Charlsie Keller.

A discussion was held and plans were made for the Exemplar/Preceptor banquet to be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau.

Sunshine gifts were given out. Members watched a video on "Operation Christmas Child," a service project in which the chapter will participate.

Members will meet on Oct. 21 at Tracy's Place in Jackson for the preferential tea.

Town & Country FCE

Margie McAnally was hostess for the Town and Country FCE Club on Oct. 9. Dinner was served by the hostess before the meeting. After dinner, the business meeting was held with Darlene McCain presiding in absence of the president.

Plans were finalized to display the club's SEMO District Fair booth in Ross Furniture Store's window in Jackson. Members brought Christmas cards for Fan Mail for the Troops. Norma Schrieber is in charge of the mailing.

McCain reported on the Fall District Meeting she attended Oct. 8 in Longtown, Mo.

Mary Klaproth of the tour committee reported the Oct. 18 Lewis and Clark trip to Alton, Ill., is full. There is still room available for the Branson trip on Nov. 14 through 16.

Upcoming events include club out at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Side Tracks in Jackson; a leader training meeting on Nov. 7 at Altenburg, Mo., with Linda Thompson and another member planning to attend, and a club garage sale on Nov. 8 at Osage Community Centre.

Programs were presented by Sue Jones on "Experiencing Chocolate" and by Klaproth on "How to Prepare for an Emergency."

The next meeting will be in the home of Lois Seabaugh on Nov. 13. Members are to bring items for the Jackson Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

Kage FCE

The Kage FCE Club met on Oct. 9 at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center with Edna Hey as hostess and Dortha Strack presiding.

The club's annual family chicken and dumpling supper will be held at the Extension Center in Jackson at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Seven members attended the Southeast District FCE meeting at Zion Parish Hall in Longtown on Oct. 8.

Margaret Crites gave the program on honey, giving tips for its use and distributing several recipes using honey.

The next meeting will be on Nov. 13 with Neva Jackson as hostess.
