Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met March 18 at the home of Sue Harris. Debbie Balsano presided.

Members helped serve a "whacky dinner" March 15 for Lambda Omicron Chapter at the home of Susan Benton.

Upcoming service projects include helping with Special Olympics Track and Field April 12.

Future social events include a picnic tentatively scheduled April 27.

Elections were held with the following results: Benton, president; Tammy Hahs, vice president; Cindy Propst, treasurer; Linda Biri, recording secretary; Cathy Pancoast, corresponding secretary/extension officer; Renee Hesselrode, city council representative; and Kathy Kiefner, secret pal. These new officers will be effective at the meeting May 20.

The chapter met April 1 at the home of Benton. Members signed up to attend Founder's Day Banquet to be held April 24 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

Members are encouraged to attend the state convention Oct. 10 through 12 in St. Louis.

Tammy Hahs reported on the chapter's participation and responsibilities for the state convention in Cape Girardeau in October 2015.

Secret pal gifts were distributed.

Benton presented the program on "Making April Fool's Day Hamburgers."

The next meeting will be April 15 at Kiefner Brothers and hosted by Kathy Kiefner.

John Guild Chapter NSDAR

The regular meeting of John Guild Chapter was held March 19 at Riverside Regional Library with regent Pamela Johnson presiding. Vice regent/program chairman Marti Strickland introduced the speaker, Fred Bollinger, also known as "Arrowhead Fred," who presented a program on Native American tools and their uses.

Hostesses were Jan Chamberlain and Jerre Crites.

The Feb. 19 meeting was held at Riverside Regional Library with Mary Ann Castillo and Michelle Scherer presenting a program about Safe House for Women, Shelter and Outreach Services. Hostesses were Beth Biri, Pamela Johnson and Bonnie Macke.

The next regular meeting will be 6 p.m. April 16 at Dexter Barbecue in Jackson. The program will be given by Lemira Parks, honorary state regent, vice president general, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. She will speak on the Boones Lick Road Markers. Hostesses will be Julie Robinson and Lorilee Short. Members are invited to bring spouses and guests.

Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighters FCE Club met at New Salem United Methodist Church fellowship hall, decorated with a spring theme, for their annual spring fling March 22.

Each member brought a favorite crockpot dish, including entrees and desserts, for a buffet meal.

Beverly Meyer, game leader, led everyone in four games.

Jo Ann Hahs, president, conducted the business session. Eleven members were present. Hahs reported a successful day of sewing blankets for autistic children and announced the next workday will be June 3 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson.

Seven members indicated interest in attending the Muny Opera in St. Louis in July to see "Hello Dolly."

Jackie Kurre presented the program on "Crockpot Cookery."
