Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau met March 2 and 16 at Port Cape Girardeau. Larry Simon was in charge of the program on March 2, and Vernon Auer presented the One Nation Under God program on March 16.

Simon is working on the Giveakidaflagtowave program for this month. The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Clean-Up Day is April 24.

The next meeting will be April 20. Clarence Lohmann is scheduled to present the program.

Alpha Mu Master

The Alpha Mu Master of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Charlotte Bess. President Marsha Parrish conducted the meeting.

Information was received concerning the Tennessee Beta Sigma Phi State Convention to be held in Memphis, Tenn., in June.

It was decided to have the last meeting of the year at the N'Orleans Restaurant on May 24. Parrish announced that the last city council meeting of the year would be presented at the annual Founders' Day Banquet held in April.

Election of officers for the 2004-2005 year was held. They are: Linda Metheny, president; Bernie Gardner, vice president; Mary Schwab, recording secretary; Margaret Little, corresponding secretary; Parrish, treasurer; and Judie Herbst, city council representative.

Bess presented a program on Active Listening. She presented tips for improved listening and a checklist of effective listening behaviors.

The next meeting will be held April 12 at the home of Parrish.

Town & Country FCE

Town & Country FCE Club met at the home of Norma Schrieber on April 1. The meeting was called to order by Darlene McCain, president. Ten members and one guest were present.

Easter bags were made for the residents of Cottonwood Treatment Center. The plastic eggs and jelly beans were donated by Becky Davis.

Carolyn Thompson gave a report on All Club's Day which was held at the Cape Girardeau County Extension Center in Jackson on March 22. The Town & Country FCE was recognized as the club of the year. Margie McAnally and Schrieber received ten-year membership pins.

Several members are planning to attend the District Meeting in Doniphan, Mo., on May 4.

Programs were given by Judy Johnson on healthy quick cooking and by Shirley Heise on pre-diabetes. Booklets entitled "The Hearth Fire Series No. 16" concerning colon cancer were handed out to each member.

The May 13 meeting will be held at the home of Linda Thompson.

Laureate Alpha Rho

The Laureate Alpha Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met April 1, at the home of Rosanna Whitnel with Bonnie Hennessy serving as hostess.

An invitation to attend the Tennessee State Beta Sigma Phi Convention in Memphis was received. It will be held June 25 through 27.

Pat Taylor, Whitnel and Hennessy were recognized as having April birthdays.

Larue Brown read a letter from a serviceman who had received one of the Christmas cards sent by the chapter. In the letter he requested a DVD for their DVD player and it was moved and seconded to send a couple of DVDs to his unit.

It was decided that chapter members would meet one day this month for lunch. Most members will be attending Founders' Day to be held April 27, at Centenary United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

A program was presented by Hennessy on the history of Easter. The next meeting will be held on May 6, at the home of Mary Ann Nenninger.

Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighters FCE Club met on March 18, at the home of Beverly Meyers. Linda Sebaugh, president, called the meeting to order.

Finalization of the plan to participate in gathering petitions for Tune Out Violence was completed.

A bus trip to St. Charles, Mo., on May 25 sponsored by the District FCE was discussed.

Verla Mangels gave a program on creating a healthier home. JoAnn Hahs gave a hands-on program on making bath salts.

The next meeting will be April 15, at the home of Judy Meyer.
