Good Shepherd Ladies Guild; St. Mary CCW

Missouri Association FCE

The Missouri Association for Family and Community Education Southeast District Spring meeting was held April 27 with Cape County FCE serving as hostess. Counties in the Southeast District are Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Perry, Ripley, Stoddard and Wayne. There were 75 members and two guests present.

The theme for the meeting was 70 years of lighting the way with FCE.

Martha Slaten, district board member from Cape Girardeau, made the introductions.

Betty Schalk and Lynn Maples gave the programs, "cocoons of culture" and "don't do it, delegate."

The state meeting to be held Oct. 19 and 20 at Columbia, Mo., was discussed.

The 4th-grade essay winners and their families were in attendance and the winners read their essays. Robyn Hosp provided entertainment after lunch.

Good Shepherd Ladies Guild

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Ladies Guild met May 8 in the church fellowship area for their friendship banquet. Lynne Cairns, president, presided over the event. Doloris Meyr and Marie Rubel were hostesses. There were 23 members and 17 guests present.

Dianne Meyr and others presented a comical fashion show. Doloris Meyr and Brigitta Tinsley were co-winners of a game.

Each person received a take-home favor, "Patterns of living."

St. Mary CCW

The St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met May 18 in the Msgr. Huels room.

Diane Schaefer, vice president, sent 11 birthday cards, a get-well card, and a thinking-of-you card last month.

It was voted to continue to send a monthly donation to Migrant Whole Health Outreach.

The council will serve the reception for William Hennecke's ordination to the diaconate on June 9.

Margie Huber, organization chair, extended thanks for the opportunity to attend DCCW Spring Assembly.

A garage sale will be held in the fall.

Sister Lucille, community chair, reported that the food pantry and Angel Food Ministries are now operating.

Schaefer will be installed as president and Julia Grider as vice president for 2006-2007.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 15 at Cape Girardeau Public Library. There will be a planning meeting on June 21 with regular meetings resuming in August.
