Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club

The Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club met Aug. 9 at Delmonico's in Jackson. The evening was enjoyed with fellowship and a lively game of bingo.

The next meeting will be Sept. 13 at Delmonico's with Louella Armstrong and Romona Bellis as co-hostesses.

Tilsit 4-H Club

The Tilsit 4H Club had a meeting on Aug. 5, at the Jackson City Park. Hot dogs and marshmallows were roasted.

Ryan Aufdenberg called the meeting to order. There were no songs. A water balloon game was played. There were several project reports.

Katlin George gave a demonstration on "how to design a necklace;" Paige Birk showed "how to make a no-sew fleece pillow;" Ryan Aufdenberg talked about "how to sight in a rifle;" and Matthew Brucker discussed "what to do, and what not to do if a hog overheats."

The club's annual pie dough fundraiser is scheduled for Nov. 6. The swimming party is still being planned. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 2, at Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Jackson.

Steven Peters of the Tilsit 4-H Club in Cape County demonstrated "differences in my three breeds of pullets" on Aug. 12 at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. He was one of 300 youth selected to give a demonstration in the 4-H Building at the Missouri State Fair.

Oak Ridge FCE Homemakers Club

The August Meeting of the Oak Ridge FCE Homemakers opened with a luncheon displaying Nigerian foods prepared and eaten by the members in attendance.

Nigeria is the country studied by FCE Clubs. Jean Rehak, president, told the group the theme of the District Fair Booth being planned by the club committee would be on Nigeria also.

Barbara Barks gave a devotion using the "23 Psalms," and a poem by Helen Steiner Rice entitled "Daily thoughts for daily needs."

Betty Dellinger and Rehak spoke about their experience of helping Bingo players at the Missouri Veterans Home last month. They will serve again this month having Barks help also.

Barks won a District scholarship to the Annual Conference in St. Louis, and she will be joined in going by Marilyn Retherford and Dellinger.

Project of July was a $100 donation to Jessica Tosser and husband who are known as Artful Givers in an orphan's school in the Ukraine. A letter of thanks for the money told of plans to buy books, toys and things to keep students busy while in the orphanage at Tsurepinsk.

This month's project will be a $100 donation to the Abigail Jensen Fund. She is a local Oak Ridge resident and has recently been diagnosed with Pontine Glioma Tumor located near her brain stem.

The meeting closed with Carole Jo Byrd giving a delightful program on Nigeria. She will be preparing the International Report and submit it for the Oak Ridge Club as well as the Cape Girardeau County's report.

Young Americans 4-H Club

The July 15 meeting of the Young Americans 4-H Club was called to order by Claire Illers at Cape County Park South.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alex Eftink and Tyler Kirchdoerfer led the 4-H Pledge. Alex Eftink and Clayton Kirchdoerfer led the club in singing. Happy Birthday was sang to Haley Ehlers. Roll call was answered by "What is your favorite firework?

There were 14 members, 17 adults in attendance and five visitors. Tyler Kirchdoerfer made a motion to accept Lydia Reitz as a new member with a second from Conner Propst. The motion carried.

The club had seven exhibitors at County Fair: Tricia Kirchdoerfer, Tyler Kirchdoerfer, Clayton Kirchdoerfer, Katie Wilson, Tori Schweer, Conner Propst, Belinda Strack, Anthony Strack, and Alex Eftink. Belinda Strack, Anthony Strack, and Conner Propst took their demonstrations to the state fair.

Katie Wilson, Haley Ehlers, Claire Illers, Greg and Linda Illers gave a report on 4-H Camp and Belinda Strack gave a report on Vet Science Camp.

The club received a "Friend of the troops certificate" for sending the most Christmas Cards to the Military.

The meeting was adjourned with a motion by Tyler Kirchdoerfer with a second by Katie Wilson.
