Scott County emergency training set for February

The Scott County Emergency Management Agency, in cooperation with the Scott County Citizen Corps Council and Scott County Community Emergency Response Teams, offers free training to the public as well as school, church, and community groups in disaster preparedness. To promote Earthquake Awareness Week in Missouri, Feb. 3 to 8, the agency encourages every family to practice a disaster plan and have a supply kit. Trivia night scheduled at St. Augustine School

The 2006 St. Augustine School Trivia Night will be held at the St. Augustine School gym in Kelso at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11. Doors open at 6 p.m. High school student admission is discounted. Tables are limited to a maximum of eight and reservations are appreciated. Call Brian or Kim Ziegler at (573) 264-3050 or the school at (573) 264-4644 for reservations or more information. Snacks and soft drinks provided, coolers will be allowed.

Club learns more about Old Town Cape group

The guest speaker at a recent Cape Evening Lions Club meeting was Tim Arbeiter, executive director of Old Town Cape. Arbiter's presentation included information on how his office operates and that the Old Town Cape district covers 130 square blocks. Members were reminded that Cape Girardeau's bicentennial will be this year.
