Miner Nursing Center schedules craft sale

MINER, Mo. -- The Miner Nursing Center has scheduled its Christmas Craft Sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the residents' activity fund. The nursing center is at 410 Route H.

Canned food collected at scrimmage game

The Immaculate Conception boys basketball teams hosted St. Paul Lutheran in a scrimmage game Oct. 13. Admission was a can of food per person. More than 1,270 food items were collected and donated to the Jackson Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

Church bazaar offers meals, gifts and auction

The Annual Maple United Methodist Church Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church's Fellowship Hall at the corner of Cape Rock Drive and Jean Ann Street. A live auction of special items will be held ft 9:30 a.m. Breakfast is available at the Mom and Pop's Kitchen, and lunch will be served at noon. Other attractions include the sweet shop, unique holiday crafts and ornaments, the New to You Christmas shop and a regular New to You shop.

Robot demonstration planned for Tuesday

The Bleach Boys and Girls, a team that entered the 2006 Regional BEST Robotics Competition at Fort Smith, Ark., will hold a demonstration at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Missouri Extension Center basement, 684 W. Jackson Trail, Jackson. Clubs and schools are invited to watch the live demonstration of the BLEACH Bot (Basic Laundry Extractor and Clothes Hanger robot) taking down and hanging laundry. Information about entering the competition next year will be available or visit www.bestinc.org.

Foundation sponsors semiannual show

The Community Counseling Center Foundation is sponsoring its fall semiannual antique and collectibles show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Arena Building. The preshow sale is from 8 to 9 a.m.

Holiday luncheons scheduled at mansion

CAIRO, Ill. -- Holiday luncheons at the Riverlore mansion will be held Nov. 21, Nov. 27 to Nov. 30 and Dec. 8, beginning at noon. Proceeds will benefit the maintenance and restoration of this 1865 historical home. Limited seating daily; those interested should call as early as possible. Red House opens doors for Christmas shop

The Red House will have ornaments, decor, handmades, mini-decorated trees, candle lanterns and candles, greenery, homemade goodies, a white Elephant table and mystery bags for sale from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1. Drawings for gift baskets, treats and door prizes will also be part of the festivities.

Chaffee Christmas Parade

The Chaffee Chamber of Commerce will hold its Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. Dec. 2 beginning at the Head Start parking lot on North Main Street. The parade ends at the Country C.B. parking lot next to Rhodes on Highway 77. A cash prize will be awarded for the top three floats. Refreshments will be provided in the Country C.B. building for all participants. For more information or to enter a float in the parade, contact H.B. Rice at 887-3555.

Annual holiday bazaar features crafts and luncheon

The Trinity Ladies Junior Aid will sponsor a annual holiday bazaar and luncheon from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Church Fellowship Room, 100 N. Frederick St. Crafts, baked goods, homemade candies and jellies, costume jewelry, glassware and collectibles, books and pre-owned treasures will be available. A chicken and dumplings luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with carryouts available and a discounted price for children 3 to 12.
