The purchase of new computers for the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Mapping Office and Assessor's Office was approved by the Cape Girardeau County Commission at its Monday meeting.

Cape Girardeau County information technology director Eric McGowen presented proposals for the equipment purchases, which county officials called necessary.

For the prosecuting attorney's office, five HP 4000 Pro computers and five 2GB memory upgrades will be purchased from Technology and Networking/ASC for $2,240. It will be paid from the prosecuting attorney's new equipment fund.

For the mapping office, one HP 3130 computer and two HP 22-inch monitors will be purchased from CDW-G for $1,102. It will be paid from the assessor's new equipment fund.

For the assessor's office, one HP EliteBook from Innovative Idea Integration for $1,579 and three years of "care pack" on this device for $98 that will insure against accidental damage. It will be paid from the assessor's new equipment fund.

* Commissioners approved a letter to Travelers Insurance Company of St. Paul, Minn., to provide a release of an insurance check to Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures, for repair of their roof damage. Cape Girardeau County is listed as a coinsurance on Schaefer's property due to a Chapter 100 tax abatement provided to the company by the county.

* The extra doses of tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis vaccination provided to county and city officials by the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center will be administered June 3 at the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office in the conference room from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the Cape Girardeau County Administration Building in the common room from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
