The Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School will offer a new course entitled Tax Preparer in January.

The course is designed for students wishing to learn how to prepare their own taxes and individual tax returns for clients.

Emphasis will be placed on the laws governing the tax practitioner, business deductible and nonbusiness deductible. A brief course on how to start a tax practitioner business will be reviewed.

The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Jan. 14, 16, 21 and 30. An optional meeting Feb. 1 is available for those interested in starting a business.

The fee for the course is $40, which includes the manual and supplies.
