Students are selected by a panel of youth in each participating high school within the jurisdiction of the sponsoring lodge. Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection.
Students are nominated monthly by classmates and teachers in their schools and then they are screened by a school student committee or panel for selection. Nominations are accepted after the first Monday of each month.
