CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- A former southeast Missouri deputy is due in federal court next week on a change-of-plea hearing.

Court records show that a hearing is scheduled for Monday in Cape Girardeau for 24-year-old Steffanie Kearbey, the former chief deputy in Carter County. She faces three federal counts of possessing stolen firearms and one count of being an unlawful drug user possessing firearms.

Her former boss, former Carter County Sheriff Tommy Adams, pleaded guilty to similar federal charges on Tuesday and will be sentenced in July.

Adams is also facing state methamphetamine and cocaine charges following his arrest last April. Both Adams and Kearbey resigned in April 2011 after their arrests.
