Holyfield receives scholastic key at MWSC
Alyssa Holyfield of Cape Girardeau was one of 134 Missouri Western State College students to receive a scholastic key during the School of Professional Studies' recent honor convocation.
Jones taking part in government internship
Jessica Jones of Cape Girardeau is participating in Truman State University's Missouri Government Internship program for the spring 2004 semester. She is interning in the office of Sen. Anita Yeckel of St. Louis. Jones is a junior accounting and finance major. She is a graduate of Central High School and the daughter of Mercedes Fort and Richard Burns.
Pittman chosen as Three Rivers cheerleader
Candice Pittman of Cape Girardeau has been selected for the cheerleading squad at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo., for the 2004-2005 school year. She is the daughter of Linda Pittman. Membership on the squad comes with a full scholarship.
Honor society inducts Shawnee college student
Bethany Christa Peters was recently inducted into the Alpha Lambda Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Shawnee Community College. Peters is the daughter of Lisa and Roy Evans of Jackson and Jerry and Bev Held of Olive Branch, Ill.
Gaines named national award winner in English
The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Sarah Gaines from Oran, Mo., has been named a national award winner in English. Gaines, who attends Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, is the daughter of John and Debbie Gaines of Oran.
Jackson students recognized by state FFA
The Missouri FFA Association recently recognized two Jackson High School students. Phillip Wichern was selected as the Area 12 Star in placement. He is the son of Dennis and Wanda Wichern. Area stars in placement are selected based upon achievement in agricultural business. Jeremie Nothdurft was named an Area 12 Star in agribusiness. His parents are Paul and Janie Nothdurft. Area stars in agribusiness are based on outstanding agribusiness activities as part of the student's supervised agricultural experience program and FFA leadership activities.
Karnes named award winner in English
Amber Karnes of Cape Girardeau has been named a national award winner in English by the United States Achievement Academy. Karnes is a student at Notre Dame Regional High School. She is the daughter of Clint and Lynne Karnes.
