PULASKI, Ill. -- Most anything on four wheels will be smashing, revving or pulling at the Pulaski County Fair next week.

Tractor pulls, demolition derbies, mud races and four-wheel drive truck pulls are among events scheduled for the fair, to be held at the Pulaski Fairgrounds.

The fair will also feature exhibits, midway rides and other events, said Jerry Thurston, a member of the fair board.

Tractors of all varieties will compete during competitions at the fair. An Illinois Tractor Pull Association event will take place Tuesday night. On the same night, a "stock tractor" pull is planned, along with a special garden tractor pull.

"A number of local farmers will take part in the stock tractor event," Thurston said.

Local drivers will also be involved in a Monday night demolition derby.

"Only residents from Pulaski and Alexander counties will participate in the derby Monday," Thurston said.

However, an open demolition derby will take place Thursday night.

More pulling is set for Wednesday at the fair, highlighted by four-wheel-drive trucks.

"We should have four classes of trucks," Thurston said. "Some hot-rod tractors will also have a couple of tractor pull classes Thursday."

Other highlights of the week are a gospel sing and community worship service that kicks off events Sunday, a western horse show Friday, and a four-by-four mud race ending events Aug. 18.
