"It was a way for the local club to work with Wal-Mart and do even more for the community," said Chris Weiss, past president of the Jackson Rotary Club.

The historic field was built in the 1950s and served as the city's first Little League field. In 1999 it was named in honor of the late Leonard Sander, long-time county commissioner and one of the founders of the Jackson Little League.
