Peggy T. Cochran, a former Chaffee teacher and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, has been named executive director of the Missouri National Education Association.

Prior to her appointment, Cochran serves as MNEA assistant executive director and as a field representative working in mid-Missouri.

She is a 22-year teaching veteran of Missouri public schools, having taught in Chaffee, Portageville and House Springs.

She has served on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Advisory Committee on Performance Based Evaluation since 1983 and has given hundreds of workshops on performance based evaluation procedures to educators around the state. She recently completed a 6-year term on the Board of Trustees of Jefferson College in Hillsboro.
