Perryville -- Four people from Peoria, Ill., were injured in an early morning accident Saturday when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the accident took place at 6:40 a.m. on Highway 55, about seven-tenths of a mile south of Route M.

Injured in the accident was the driver, Laurie Stepping, 41, of Peoria. Also injured were passengers Kurt Stepping, 40, Christopher Stepping, 17, Jeffrey Stepping, 13, and Brian Stepping, 8. They were transferred to Perry County Memorial Hospital.

The patrol said Laurie Stepping apparently fell asleep, ran off the roadway and the car overturned.
