FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- A Missouri man's freedom from jail didn't last beyond the squad car ride home, after he reportedly dropped a container of methamphetamine getting out of the patrol car.
The Park Hills Daily Journal reported that 25-year-old William O'Brien of Fredericktown is back in jail on $30,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
A Madison County deputy saw O'Brien walking home after being released from jail Monday morning, and offered him a ride. O'Brien got into the cruiser and asked the deputy to drop him off at a store.
Police say that when O'Brien got out a container fell from his coat. The deputy asked to see the contents.
A probable-cause statement said it contained five baggies of meth.
