A fund for the Moshiri family has been set up to cover medical expenses and funeral costs for Michael R. Jeffers, 16, and Madison Moshiri, 4, who were shot Monday in Jackson.

Donations can be made in the name of Katherine Moshiri at any US Bank, said friend Cheri Fisher. Fisher is also working on setting up donation cans at area gas stations and grocery stores.

Police suspect Katherine Moshiri's husband, Mir Shahin Moshiri, 36, shot Katherine Moshiri and her three children before killing himself. Katherine Moshiri and her 2-year-old daughter Meghan survived.

The family did not have insurance, and Katherine Moshiri's sole source of income was selling items on eBay.

"The family needs the community to stand behind them," Fisher said.

A benefit will be held at Daytimer Lounge, 829 S. Kingshighway, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 29. Fisher said friends of the family are also organizing a dance so friends of Jeffers and high school students can help.

Sympathy messages can be sent via McCombs Funeral Home's Web site, www.mccombsfuneralhome.com, through the obituary page, said funeral director Christi Guilliams. Partial obituaries were posted on the Web site Thursday night.

"It's going to be extremely hard to pick up the pieces of what's left and move on. She needs all the help she can get right now," Fisher said.
