Less than a month after leaving his post as executive director of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, Brian Gerau has his old job back.
The Jackson Chamber of Commerce board of directors voted Thursday to rehire Gerau for the position, said board president Jason Wray.
Wray said the board had been moving forward on replacing Gerau after his resignation in July. Then Gerau called them expressing interest in his previous position.
"After leaving the Chamber, I realized that I still had the drive to finish a lot of uncompleted projects," Gerau said in a statement issued Friday. "I am excited to be back."
He declined to comment further on his return.
Upon leaving the chamber, he began working for as a senior development officer with the SoutheastHealth Foundation on Aug. 1.
SoutheastHealth's marketing department did not respond to requests for comment Friday.
Gerau moved to the area in 2004 when he became director of Sylvan Learning Center in Cape Girardeau. Before first accepting his position as Jackson chamber director, Gerau was a territory sales manager with the Altria Group.
The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce has about 450 members.
