The Girl Scouts of Otahki Council elected and installed its board of directors and nominating committee members at its annual meeting recently.
Officers elected were Jean Bollinger, president; Mike Shivelbine and Terri Tomlin, vice presidents; Evelyn Rehagen, secretary; and Pat Kaempfer, treasurer. At-large members elected were Donna Ballman, Teresa Richerson, Jean Ratliff, Brenda Newbern, Pat McDonald and Gretel Nelson. Nominating committee members elected were Pat Ray, Janet Wagganer, Sally Elrod and Carolyn Goodin. National council meeting delegates elected were Denise Stewart, executive director; and Jean Bollinger, council president.
Special awards were also presented. The Thanks II Badge, the highest award in Girl Scouting, was presented to Susan Steck of Cobden, Ill. The Thanks Badge for service benefiting the entire Girl Scout organization was presented to Sheryl Ribbing of Anna, Ill., and Terri Tomlin of Jackson.
Honor pins, presented to those who demonstrate outstanding service toward meeting the council's goals and objectives, were awarded to Beverly Gean of Benton, Mo., Sandy Hastings of Jackson, Cathy Kirt of Jonesboro, Ill., and Pat McDonald of Jackson.
The Appreciation Pin, for outstanding service to their service unit, was awarded to Jonna Beal of Advance, Mo., Angie Cowell of Jackson, Jill Essner of Cape Girardeau, Melissa Rose of Jackson, and Heather Weber of Anna, Ill.
The Juliette Low Award, for highest percent of girl members in relation to the girl population, was presented to the Cape Daisy/Brownie Service Unit for serving 1 out of every 2.81 girls in its jurisdiction.
The Ellington Service Unit received the Leona Bunch Award for the highest retention of girls and adults.
Girl Scouts of Otahki Council advocates for 5- to 17-year-old girls in eight counties in Southeast Missouri and three in Southern Illinois.
