Southeast Missouri State University's football team has struggled much of the season, but senior quarterback Andrew Goodenough has put up impressive numbers most of the way.

And after a strong outing during Saturday's 31-28 overtime win over Tennessee Tech, Goodenough has put his name in the Ohio Valley Conference record book.

Goodenough, who completed 29 of 48 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns against Tennessee Tech, now holds the OVC record for most completions in a season, with 261. He also broke the league's mark for attempts in a season with 426.

Goodenough also earlier this season broke Southeast records for completions (34) and attempts (57) in a single game.

Goodenough's 261 completions surpassed the previous OVC standard of 258, set in 2002 by former Eastern Illinois star Tony Romo, who is now with the Dallas Cowboys. The previous conference record for attempts was 400, set by Murray State's Justin Fuente in 1999.

Entering Saturday's season finale at Jacksonville State, Goodenough has completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,696 yards and 16 touchdowns, with 11 interceptions. The 2,696 yards represent the second-highest single-season total in school history, behind only Jack Tomco's 3,132 yards in 2002.

"Andrew has played really well," said Southeast coach Tim Billings, whose squad is 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the OVC, good for a fifth-place tie among nine teams.

One other Southeast player is virtually assured of setting a school single-season record. Sophomore punter David Simonhoff ranks second nationally in Division I-AA with an average of 45.5 yards per punt. The Southeast record for season average is 43.5 by Justin Terrill in 1997.

Also, senior placekicker Derek Kutz continues to add to his school record for most career extra points. He has 136. Kutz is also Southeast's single-season leader in extra points with 50, set in 2002.
