The Jackson Homecomers celebration will be held Aug. 18-22 in downtown Jackson. There is plenty of nightly entertainment planned.

The Annual Talent Show will be held Tuesday through Thursday on the stage in front of the courthouse. Amateur acts of singing, dancing, acrobatics and instrumentals are invited to attend in singles, duets and groups. The stage is outdoor and there is no piano for solos.

Tuesday night will be reserved for talent acts other than dancing for two age groups 6-12 and 13-21.

Wednesday night is reserved for solo or group dance acts for age groups 6-12 and 13-21. First through fourth place winners in each division will receive cash prizes.

The winners may then compete on Thursday. The overall winner in the 13-21 age group will be invited to the Youth Talent Contest at the MidSouth /fair in Memphis, Tenn.

The Homecomers Queen Contest will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 at the stage in front of the courthouse. The contest is opened to all girls ages 17-18 and will be a high school senior during the 1998-99 school year.

Entry forms may be picked up at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce office at P.O. Box 352, Jackson, MO. 63755 or call 243-8131. The forms must be returned no later than Aug. 7. Contestants are asked to include two photos with their entry form for publicity purposes.

There is no entry fee, cash prizes will be awarded for the queen and first and second runnersup. Participation in the queen contest will be on a first come, first serve basis and there will be a limited number of contestants.

Entertainment before, during and after the pageant will be provided by the Missouri Girls. This is a group of young women who have competed for the title of Miss Missouri and provide entertainment for local pageants, conventions and meetings.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, the band "Two for the Show" will perform. The five member group will perform country music favorites from yesterday and today. The show also includes hilarious Ray Stevens and Spike Jones pantomimes and other comedy routines.

The annual Homecomers celebration will also have plenty of good food and other entertainment throughout the week.
